USMA Network Science center |
The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration (OASD-NII), through its Command and Control Research Program (CCRP) is proud to be a founding sponsor of the United States Military Academy's Network Science Center. This organization was established in 2007 with the intent to engage more academic institutions, public and private research organizations, and scholars in basic and applied research relevant to Network Centric Operations involving the US Department of Defense, interagency partners, coalition militaries, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and private industry. The United States Military Academy (USMA) Network Science Center (NSC) provides service members, civilians, and cadets with the ability to work together and make significant contributions towards this emerging discipline; address Army-specific and related Network Science challenges; and offer relevant educational opportunities for current and future Army leaders. The NSC is inherently interdisciplinary, leveraging a wide range of USMA academic departments, research centers, and disciplinary experts with close ties to military and civilian research centers. This interdisciplinary capability is critical, given the nature of networks which are pervasive across all aspects of life — whether biological, physical, social, or otherwise. The unique ability of the Military Academy within the Army to bring these disciplines together provides an opportunity for significant contributions to the defense of the United States against both conventional and unconventional threats.
