Abstract

This anthology contains the work of a great diversity of authors, from general officers (Matthew Ridgway and Edward C. Meyer) to noncommissioned officers (Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Arthur L. Andrews) to academics (presidential historian James MacGregor Burns). The 23 essays each try to convey meaningful and valuable lessons about the nature of leadership from the variegated perspectives of the 22 authors, whether in the definition of the quality, in relating it to the practices of management, or in examining the current trends and future needs for leadership. Brief notes follow some chapters.
