Abstract

This report concludes a review by the authors of some 66 models, reports, and other documents relating to the theory and modeling of command and control from 1975 to 1988. Having eliminated from the outset those models solely devoted to communications or engineering applications, the authors divide the literature into five classes of models: implementational, organizational, behavioral, systems research-based, and network-based. They proceed to explore these classes of models, and end with a set of conclusions, prescriptive for (then) future efforts in C2 modeling. A bibliography, primarily of documents related to the models and theories reviewed, is appended.
