Abstract

This collection of 40 papers examines the role of information technology in command and control. Most of the papers have been previously published between 1981 and 1990, but a few (mostly written or co-written by the editors) appear to be original. The collection covers modeling, requirements analysis, prototyping, decision aids, and evaluation. It is divided into five sections: C2 information and decision systems analysis and design (9 papers); intelligent C2 systems technology (9); advanced user-computer interface technology (5); C2 decision-making, decision aids and support systems (8); and evaluation and assessment perspectives, tools, and techniques (9). It includes an introductory essay, a select bibliography (in addition to those provided with each paper), author and subject indices, and biographies of the editors (though not of the authors).
