Abstract

This volume contains 63 papers, plus an appendix showing the schedule of the symposium, as held on June 19-22, 1995, at the National Defense University. The papers are divided into four tracks (A-D), plus an introductory section of four special presentations and a group of three papers that had been previously presented at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Workshop on Information Warfare in February, 1995. Authors include representatives from US and foreign governments (including Canada, Germany, Australia, China, Great Britain, Sweden), academia, and private industry. Track A contains 18 papers dealing with C3I systems and systems architecture, including discussions of modeling and tools. Track B consists of 15 papers on various aspects of decision making and the examination of human factors in command and control. The 12 papers in Track C address modeling and simulation of C2, while the 11 papers in Track D explore the larger implications of research issues, including a number of papers on Information Warfare. The special presentations concerned C2 architectures for ballistic missile defense, object-oriented information architectures, and C2 modeling.
