This symposium was sponsored not only by the JDL but also by NDU, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Society, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It was particularly devoted to the subject of current research in C2. The three invited papers discuss the Joint Staff perspective on C3 research, the effect on organizational design, intelligence, and decision making of advanced information technologies, and challenges of distributed decision making. The 49 contributed papers speak to a range of topics, from highly theoretical approaches through modeling and simulation to concrete application of C2/C3 research.
