This volume, intended as an introduction to organizational theory's view of leadership, describes the differentiation between schools of organizational theory (trait approach, situationist approach, interactionist view) and seeks to provide a definition and model of leadership. The division of the book breaks its forty-nine essays into six topics: the individual, the group, the individual's role as a leader, transactions (communication and counseling), the organization, and the nature of the military and its connection to society. Most chapters have their own reference notes.
